We took up the challenge to figure out what the fuss was all about. Is this potion really the nectar that your skin’s been craving all this time or is this just another brand-generated urban legend?
We’re SIEVE after all; we simply don’t review products we don’t believe in. We believe that the product has to be more than just its packaging. It has to claim a definite change for us to be interested in it. And if you’re claiming something big, we’re definitely here to try it out!
Women like us who parade day in and day out in the sun, break their skin, harm it with pollution and sun-rays, can always use a little magic treatment to replenish the skin tissues. Our beauty editor tried out Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for a month and here’s what she had to say. Giddy up!
Not a runny liquid, neither the consistency of castor oil, this serum is a thick paraben-free botanical elixir. The potent 99.8% naturally-derived oil claims to work all night to repair and replenish the skin barrier for younger-looking skin by morning. The ambrosia mix of botanical and essential oils is supposed to have balancing and anti-oxidation effects. The intent is to work during the skin’s natural nocturnal phase to dramatically restore skin by morning.
There’s something intriguing about this blue bottle of nectar, the look’s sleek and the scent of this serum takes you back to the days when your mother used to apply her beauty oils (and you’d just sit there and pray for the time when you too would be grown up enough to do the same).
* Evening Primrose Oil. It’s meant to repair skin and boost radiance.
* Lavender Essential Oil helps soothe inflamed or irritated skin and reduces skin blotchiness for a more even look. Also, enables a brighter and more radiant look for the skin.
* Squalane is a healing botanical lipid with a high affinity for skin to instantly restore and replenish.
The overwhelming aroma of lavender and primrose oil feels different and historical, as though it was made in an apothecary. As a grown-up, it’s nice to have something that makes you want to take time out to light a candle, and rejuvenate your skin.
After using it for 30 nights and waking up feeling incredulous every morning it most certainly does work! And if we must be honest, it does more than what it claims to (as long as my mirror isn’t lying, we’re standing by our words). The aftermath of this product is that it leaves you feeling therapeutic in ways that can’t be put down into words, but we’ll try anyway: Imagine falling asleep in a chateaux near a lavender farm in Provence. While you may think, “why is she romanticising lotions?” Well, dear reader, it’s because it made me feel exactly like that!
The Midnight Recovery Concentrate enabled my skin to greet me with a fresh and light-reflective face. I woke up every morning to see myself in the mirror and feeling that my beautiful skin deserved a hug! Call it magic or the blends of some apothecary, out of everything I’ve slathered on my skin, this one has definitely lived up to its promise.
Though, be ye warned, when you apply it, it does make your skin appear greasy, but it’s just the kind of setting you need to get your skin prepped up for a rejuvenating treatment at home.
Spread it across your face every night after cleansing with a toner or a gentle face wash. It can also be used as a traditional facial toner, simply sweep a moistened cotton pad across the skin, and/or as a leave-on toning mist any time during the day.
I’ll end this with: The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is an amazingly simple, all-apothecary product that has earned a permanent place on my dressing table, and I’d highly recommend it to all working women.
