It’s that time of the
month year again: Women’s Day. In order to celebrate women, SIEVE decided to honour women whose style serves as a daily inspiration. We’ve selected style icons from all walks of life – the ones that resonate most with us are of course who dress impeccably and effortlessly.
Chiki Sarkar, Nandini Bhalla, and Kiran Rao are amongst the more known from the rest of the lot that we’re big fans of. But they’re all pretty rad! As you can tell from Chiki’s snapshot in her raw element, this literary power house can always be counted on for dressing her best (uniquest).
Nandini Bhalla, who doesn’t know her? She’s best known for her role as the Editor of Cosmopolitan India. And her fashion forwardness can be seen from a mile away when it comes to her knack for dresses.
Kiran Rao. We all know and love her quirky sensibility. Whether that’s pairing an iswas outfit with a vintage brooch or sporting an Obataimu on the televised Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla show. She’s stolen the limelight from the cookie cutter fashion that we’re constantly assaulted with.
Tanya Ghavri, the stylist behind all the women who’re being appreciated for their “sense of style” in Bollywood, deserves a thumbs up from us! Everybody deserves to give this woman a hug for the fresh breath of change she’s brought into the Page 3 crowd’s wardrobe.
Vandana Verma, the lady behind W+K’s IndiaTube deserves a high-five for her clean bob and her simple style. A big fan of travelling and bringing home beauty products from her local/international travels, her non-contrived norm-core works like a charm for us!
Angelique Raina, she may be only 24 but she’s surely destined for making a big name for herself. She started her career with consulting for luxury brands and moved onto helming the super-fab-meets-design-house Morphe into what it is today. Props galore.
And lastly, Aparna Badlani. A believer in changing perspectives through fashion, this co-owner of the multi-designer store in Mumbai called Atosa is everything we love (in life and in fashion). Her story? A micro-biologist who gave up her science pedigree for the love of all things clothes. She gets a special salute from us.
As you can tell, we’ve honoured women whose work ethic and personality find embodiment in their strong and individual style. Are there any women you feel fit that bill? Drop us a line or a link, we’d love the recco!
